Benefits

Our dermal fillers provide a wide range of benefits. We use them to help smooth wrinkles around the mouth and nose and to help plump and define lips. More robust products are used for volume replenishment of the cheeks, temples and under the eyes to restore a more youthful facial contour. Fillers can also be used to restore volume on the backs of the hands and soften shallow scars caused by acne or chicken pox. We often use dermal fillers along with BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® to enhance the cosmetic result.

We offer a variety of dermal filler options to provide many different advantages. All of our fillers are FDA-approved, made without animal products and do not require allergy testing. These safe, effective treatments provide a natural-looking improvement. We will work with you to choose the treatment that best suits your needs and desires.

These are hyaluronic acid fillers designed to restore lasting volume and moisture to the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a substance that occurs naturally in the human body. Therefore, allergy testing is not needed. These fillers are commonly used to plump the lips, fill the lines around the mouth and nose, and diminish the marionette lines extending from the corners of the lips. Treatments last 6 to 12 months depending on the treated area. Most of these formulations (Restylane-L, Restylane Lyft, JUVÉDERM XC) contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic to reduce discomfort during and after the treatment.

Like the other formulations of JUVÉDERM, VOLUMA XC is a hyaluronic acid-based filler. The gel is thicker in this formulation, which makes it ideal for restoring volume to the cheeks at all 3 areas: the apex, the apple, and the hollow. Once injected, VOLUMA XC yields immediate results, giving you a lifted look that can last for up to 2 years.

RADIESSE is a longer lasting filler made of microspheres of calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA), similar to the minerals in bones. It is absorbed naturally by the body over time and does not require allergy testing. The microspheres stimulate the production of collagen to restore a more youthful appearance. RADIESSE is commonly used to replenish volume in the cheeks, fill smile lines and marionette lines, and improve the appearance of jowling. Results typically last 12 to 18 months.

Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid, a material also found in dissolving sutures. It is designed to help the body rebuild lost collagen and commonly used to re-volumize the cheeks and temples. The effect of this treatment is more gradual, and optimal results usually require a series of 2 to 3 monthly treatments. However, once achieved, these results can last for over 2 years.

Treatments

At Allura Skin and Laser Center, dermal filler injections are performed only by physicians. Treatments sessions are brief and discomfort can be minimized with the use of numbing cream, ice, and an injectable nerve block if needed. Because there is a risk of bruising, we recommend patients avoid using aspirin, non-steroidals (such as naproxen and ibuprofen), and other blood-thinning medications at least one week before treatment to minimize the risks. Mild swelling and tenderness in the treated area may be noticeable the first few days after treatment. Make-up can be applied and normal activities can be resumed immediately after your appointment.

Improvement can generally be seen right away with little downtime. Although not permanent, you can maintain your improved look with periodic touch-up treatments.
